How much money can I make?

At OT HairCutters we believe that effort = reward, or in our case rewards. The ownership and management of OT HairCutters has one primary responsibility and that is to provide you with the opportunity to earn as much money as possible. It’s simple, the better you do the better we do. This is the nature of our remuneration structure. Greed is not in our vocabulary; we want you to stay with OT, to excel and succeed with OT, and reap the rewards.

Hourly Wage: range min - $13/hr

+

No Split/Target Commissions: four ways to earn commission (as much as 70%)

+

Bonus system unlike any other: earn points, get the rewards ($1,500 travel voucher annually)

When will I have to work?

Family is Important! Your family is important! At OT HairCutters we understand that your family comes first. Family time is important and we respect that weekends can be challenging. It is our goal that no stylist works two Saturdays in a row unless they choose. However, we would be lying if we suggested that this will not happen. There will be various community events and opportunities for you to grow your clientele, and many of these will happen on weekends... effort = reward(s). There will be times when your teammate may need you to cover for them or for you. In either case every stylist will have two days off in a row, per week, and of course we will always be fair and compassionate.

Our hours of operations are:Monday – Wednesday9 am – 7 pm
 Thursday & Friday9 am – 8 pm
 Saturday9 am – 5 pm

Will I be doing a lot of kid haircuts?

The BIG misconception... OT HairCutters is designed and targeted to provide adult male and female clientele with an exciting alternative to the everyday. The interior is upscale comprising of stained oak, stainless steel, vinyl/ceramic flooring etc.; our goal is to provide a comfortable, engaging, entertaining, adult-oriented environment. That said there is no question that kids will be attracted to OT, but we expect they will comprise of only 10 – 15% overall.

OT will never directly advertise to kids, but of course they are welcome clients along with their parents.

What about my female clientele?

Over 5,800 hockey mom’s in PEI. Minor Hockey would be nothing without the “Hockey Mom”. In fact there are over 5,800 hockey moms on PEI, and coincidentally, PEI has the most registered female hockey players per capita in Canada at 1,000. Female hockey and sports is huge on PEI and OT HairCutters speaks to their passion as much as it speaks to men.

The Ladies Locker is a designated space specifically designed to cater to our female clientele, a space where they can kick their shoes off and take a moment for themselves. Decorated for comfort, relaxation and entertainment, the Ladies Locker includes upscale flooring and furnishings, a 32” flat-screen TV, Netbook with internet access, and free beverages and a selection of coffee. A product display will also be included accompanied by educational materials to help you increase your product commissions. Bottom line, your female clientele are an important part of our business and marketing efforts. In fact, we are working with K-Rock to run a “Hockey Mom of the Week” promotion throughout the fall by giving away a full chemical treatment per week... we will help you grow your client base!

How will OT help me grow my client base?

A massive, organized market. Most salons have to market to the masses in the hopes of getting the few. OT HairCutters has a distinct advantage over its competitors because our market is organized, as all sports are organized. This provides us with direct and meaningful access to a huge market of hockey and sports enthusiasts. This combined with our commitment to actively participating in our community; we will provide you with a variety of opportunities to get in front of new, prospect clients.

We have formed a partnership with HockeyPEI, Future Shop and the PEI Rocket (to-date) to help support our grand opening campaign. HockeyPEI and the PEI Rocket have agreed to forward our promotional materials to their entire database (approximately 4,000) hockey players, parents and fans. Future Shop has agreed to distribute our promotional materials at their cash counter, and we are just getting started.

How will OT HairCutters help me improve my skill set?

If you want it, we will support it! There are a number of ways we will help you improve your skill set. We have quarterly training sessions planned that will provide up-to-date technique and product training. We will also be providing some general barbering and hair tattooing training and if that is not enough, each OT stylist will also have the opportunity to earn training credits. No matter what skill level you are at, OT HairCutters will support any effort to improve on your skills. The more skills the OT team possesses the higher quality service we can provide our clients.

Will I have an opportunity for advancement?

Opportunities no other salon can offer. We can confidently say that there is NO other salon on the Island that will provide greater advancement opportunities than OT HairCutters. We are currently working with a number of industry experts who believe that OT HairCutters has the potential to be the next Tim Horton’s, after all you would be hard pressed to find one community in Canada that does not have a strong, vibrant and emotional connection to hockey.

Our goal is 350 locations across Canada in the next 8 years, aggressive yes, but we have the knowledge, expertise, determination and support to make this happen. As the franchise chain grows we will need a variety of positions filled, perhaps you are on the training team that flies to Alberta to help set up and train new franchise, or perhaps you work with the technical team ensure our franchisees are provided with the most up-to-date product and service knowledge. No matter which way you cut it, those stylists that get in early, work hard and are dedicated to the growth and success of OT will grow and advance as OT grows and advances. Will I have fun? Will it be an interesting place to work?

Work should be fun, shouldn’t it??? One of the core values of OT HairCutters is “having fun”, after all we spend approximately 35% of our lives working and frankly put, life is too short to not have fun. That said there are a number of ways that OT brings fun to life. First and foremost the essence of our concept is centered around sports, which is fun. The OT environment is a vibrant, energetic atmosphere that induces fun. Our team oriented stylists and OT ownership will encourage a fun working environment. And last but not least, an active role and participation in community causes and events.

Team first is my job! As the president of OT HairCutters I’d like to believe that I am not a jerk. In fact, I realize that without a strong team of stylists I am nothing. My team is the most important thing to me, your success is my success and I will do everything in power to fair, honest and support my staff both personally and professionally. Who are we looking for: If you are skilled, passionate and a team player looking to grow your client base and advance your career we want you on the OT team of stylists.
Terms of Employment:Permanent, FT/PT, weekend, day and evening.
Salary: Hourly wage + commissions (up to 70%) + bonus + gratuities (specifics provided with offer of employment)
Anticipated Start Date:Immediately.
Location:Kirkwood Mews, 393 University Ave, Charlottetown, PEI.
Required Skills: 
• Education:Completion of hairstyling/design course.
• Credentials: Licensed hairstylist (consideration will be given to non-licensed stylists with ambition and passion).
• Experience:3 – 5 years experience, straight blade experience an asset.
• Hair Cutting Techniques:Scissor, clipper and trimmer cutting (hair tattoo skills an asset).
• Hair Styling Techniques: General contemporary styling, blow drying, curling, flat iron, braiding, permanents, relaxing, roller setting, and updos.
• Hair Colouring/Chemical Techniques:Lightening/bleach, colour, perms, and highlights.
• Related Skills: Analyze hair and scalp condition and provide basic treatments, advice and product recommendations.
• Barbering Specific Skills:Straight blade skills an asset – training will be provided.
• Additional Skills: Book appointments, cashiering duties, customer comfort and service, retail sales, communication, creative, teamwork, adaptability/flexibility, dedicated/hard-working, positive/upbeat/personable, professional and willing to learn.
Work Conditions/Physical Capabilities:Fast-paced, energetic environment, manual dexterity, attention to detail, hand-eye co-ordination, combination of sitting, standing, and walking.
Work Environment: Professional, team centric, client focused, clean and welcoming.
Hours of Operation: M – W (9 am – 7 pm), T – F (9 am – 8 pm), Sat (9 am – 5 pm)
